A Motel 6 receipt, often called a folio, is the itemized record of a stay: the room rate for each night, the lodging taxes, any extra charges and how the bill was paid. Travelers need it for expense reports, tax records and disputes about a charge. This example shows what a complete motel folio includes and how to get a copy of your own from Motel 6 after you check out.

Motel 6 Receipt

What's on a Motel 6 Receipt

  • Property name and address — every Motel 6 is a separate location, so the receipt names the exact motel

  • Guest name and room number

  • Confirmation or folio number

  • Arrival and departure dates, with the number of nights

  • Room rate per night, one line for each night

  • Taxes — state and local lodging or occupancy taxes, shown on their own lines

  • Other charges, such as a pet fee or an extra guest, when they apply

  • Payment method, the total and the balance due, which should be zero at checkout

The tax lines matter most for business travel. Lodging taxes differ by city and state, so a real folio shows the rates that apply where you stayed.

How to Get a Copy of Your Motel 6 Receipt

If you lost the paper copy, start with the Motel 6 website. Its Find Reservation page looks up a stay with your last name and confirmation number. My6 members can sign in to see all of their reservations in one place.

If you need help, Motel 6 lists its Reservation Center at 1-800-899-9841. You can also use the Guest Relations contact form, which asks for the property name or location and the reservation number from your booking confirmation email. For a fully itemized folio, the front desk of the motel where you stayed is often the quickest source, because each location keeps its own guest records.

Booked Through a Travel Site?

If you booked through an online travel agency and paid it in advance, that site usually charged your card, so its booking confirmation is your proof of payment. The motel's own folio may still be useful, because it shows the nights and the local taxes in the motel's name. Ask for both if your employer wants a hotel folio and not just a booking confirmation.

Whichever way you booked, check that the dates and the nightly rate on the receipt match your card statement before you submit it.

Motel Receipts for Expense Reports

Most expense policies want the itemized folio, not a card slip that only shows a total. The folio lets finance separate the room and the taxes from extras such as parking or a pet fee, which some companies do not reimburse. Submit it the same week you travel. A folio is easy to get while the stay is recent and harder to track down months later.

If you travel often for work, a free My6 account keeps your stays together, so a missing receipt is easier to recover.

Create a Motel Receipt

Our generator builds a motel folio with the usual layout: property details, guest and room, arrival and departure, a line for each night, lodging taxes, total and payment. Download it as a PDF, PNG or JPG. It is useful for small motels and inns that need a clean receipt for their own guests.

Use it responsibly: this is not an official Motel 6 document. Create receipts only for stays that happened, with the real dates and amounts. Submitting a made-up hotel receipt for reimbursement or a tax deduction is fraud.
