Clubcard, Clubcard Prices, and Points
Tesco’s Clubcard is central to the receipt. Scan the card or app and you earn 1 point per £1 spent (plus fuel points at Tesco petrol stations); points convert to vouchers that can be spent in-store or, at higher value, with Clubcard Reward Partners. Separately, Clubcard Prices are member-only discounts shown on the shelf and applied at the till — the receipt marks which lines got the member price, which is why a Clubcard total often looks lower than the shelf’s standard prices suggested. If you shop online at Tesco.com, the same points and prices apply and a full digital receipt sits in your account order history, downloadable at any time — the easiest route to a copy of a past shop.
VAT Receipts: What UK Shoppers and Businesses Need
A Tesco till receipt is a valid VAT receipt, which matters for anyone reclaiming tax. UK VAT does not apply to most food, but it does apply to many household, non-food, and standard-rated items, and the receipt flags taxable lines with a code and prints a VAT total at the foot along with Tesco’s VAT registration number. A business buying supplies at Tesco uses exactly this to reclaim the input VAT — which is why “can I get a VAT receipt from Tesco” is a common question. For a standard shop the till receipt suffices; for a larger or online order, a full VAT invoice can be requested or downloaded from the Tesco.com account. US readers encounter this only on UK purchases — America uses sales tax, not VAT.
Returns, Refunds, and Getting a Copy
Tesco refunds or exchanges most items within its returns window with proof of purchase, and the receipt — or the Clubcard record of the transaction — is what makes that straightforward, with refunds going to the original payment. For a lost receipt, the Clubcard app and Tesco.com order history are the fallback: online shops keep a full itemised receipt, and in-store Clubcard purchases leave a record staff can often trace. For expenses and bookkeeping, the itemised VAT receipt is the document to keep, since it shows both what was bought and the reclaimable tax — detail a card statement’s single “TESCO” line never carries.

Create a Tesco-Style Receipt
Our generator rebuilds a UK-grocery receipt in the Tesco style — store header, itemised lines with any Clubcard pricing, the VAT summary, points, and total — as a clean PDF for records when the original has been lost.
Use it responsibly: recreate only real purchases at their true amounts. Fabricating receipts to reclaim VAT, claim a refund, or support an expense is fraud — VAT fraud especially carries serious penalties. Tesco keeps genuine records via Clubcard and Tesco.com; recreate receipts only to make real purchases legible for your files.
